BEATIFICITY

Beatificity is the quality or fact or condition of being beatified in Catholicism; it comprises the narrative that is presented regarding a person's suitability and worthiness for recognition in the Catholic Church. This includes their qualities, but also teachings as relating to Catholicism, events in their life which tested their faith, in addition to those Catholic characteristics unique to them. Crucially, a person's beatificity also includes details on their post-corporeal intercessions and how these have resulted in the occurrence of miracles, a key quality to all persons beatified. A similar, yet distinct concept is that of figureship although this is applied to religious figures and philosophers more broadly.
